Y2k for AFRICA Awareness DAY - 1998-08-19

You are cordially invited to participate in the "Y2k for Africa Awareness Day" campaign.

The idea is to hold a "Virtual Hands across Africa" to highlight the Y2k Problem and to initiate Action across the Continent.

The objective is to involve all Radio, TV and Print Media as well as Public and Private Organisations in every country in Africa.

The 19th of August is B-Day Minus 500.

It represents the last effective day to raise awareness of the Y2k problem with just enough time to provide fixes before the problem strikes.

We can do something about the Y2k problem if we act now, with purpose and mutual cooperation.

What a magnificient first for Africa when we pull this off!

All Y2KAFRIK correspondents will be receiving instructions in how to start the wheels moving in their countries. Press releases are in preparation.

LOGO COMPETITION

We need a LOGO. So the first activity is a competition for a Logo suitable for T-shirts, Balloons and Bumper stickers.

Entries in the form of digital GIF files to be submitted as MIME email attachments to webmaster@cinderella.co.za by midnight GMT on July 20, 1998.

There will be no prizes, but think of the glory!

Entries will be judged by the CSSA Y2k SIG committee. The decision of the judges will be final. Entries are accepted solely on the basis that they are placed in the public domain and may be reproduced freely for any purpose.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a "WORLD Y2k AWARENESS DAY" on the same day!

We can do this!

Go GO GO GO ....
