Belts and Braces. Just to be absolutely sure that all our Y2k tools are invoked and ready to go, let's try a test of everything together. First install one the better Y2k fixers, DATE2000 (or Year2000) from Tom Becker (or his alternate suppliers). Include SLUG2000 after these are invoked in the Autoexec.bat. So the first three lines of your AUTOEXEC.BAT will look like this: @C:\DATE2000\DATE2000 @C:\DATE2000\TSR2000 @slug2000 Now for the critical test. Change the date to 1980-01-01 (or 1980-01-04 if you prefer) using the DATE command. Remember, this is the date that does the damage! Switch off the power. Switch on and watch what happens. Question: WHICH of the Y2k tools detects the error? No prizes will be awarded for the correct answer. B>) Chris Anderson 1998-06-30
